Sam Blakeslee was sworn into the California State Senate Monday. Blakeslee succeeds Abel Maldonado in the 15th district, preventing the Democrats from getting a two-thirds majority.
The race was close in the Central Coast–neither candidate received 50 percent in June, forcing a runoff that was decided last week.
Members of the Ventura County Young Republican Board of Directors drove up to San Luis Obispo during both the primary and runoff elections.
“I am deeply appreciative of the confidence placed in me by the people of the 15th Senate District,” Blakeslee said in a statement. ”I will work hard to represent everyone on the Central Coast as we fight to bring jobs and fiscal responsibility back to California.”
